Handcuffed in front with loose cuffs; open cage window?; no one watching subject; hope he wasn't in custody for anything serious!!

Who's the genius that handcuffed this guy in the front??? Rookie move.

KV @ 9/16/2011 10:46 AM

He WAS cuffed behind his back - he got his hands around the front of him before the video started.

SOP of cuffed behind was compromised by not noticing how lean this fellow was. Wrist circumference of 7.5" or more= large frame; 7" - medium frame and 6.5" small frame. When a small frame, small wrist male is found, plastic ties are better. Also, such wiry guys easily get their hands in front, but biting plastic ties are tough tasks without losing skin in the process of the biting.

A shining example of the dangers we face every day. No one wants to think about what this guy would've done if he got to a weapon or was determined to hurt the officer. This should be shown to the politicians and taxpayers when they start to think tax cuts and reducing two officer patrols to one. If there was another officer to watch this guy it wouldn't have happened. It is embarrassing for the department but, I'm glad the officer wasn't injured. Unfortunately our brothers and sisters who work for smaller departments don't have the luxury of a transport van and have to do everything alone with little back-up.

Smooth...the fuc*er rolled down the window. Definitely need to keep that middle window closed, but I'm guilty of leaving it open too. Sometimes it gets too damn hot in the car and you leave it open to get A/C back there so the suspect does croak in custody.
