Seriously Wounded North Carolina Fugitive Task Force Officer Expected to Recover

The task force officer was shot in the upper torso. He was transported by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to a Level 1 trauma center in Charlotte, where he underwent surgery.

A Statesville, North Carolina, Police officer who was shot and seriously wounded Monday while serving with a U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force during a warrant operation in Charlotte is expected to fully recover.

Statesville Police Cpl. Casey Hoover was one of nine officers shot during, four were killed.

The Iredell Free Press reports Hoover was shot in the upper torso. He was transported by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to a Level 1 trauma center in Charlotte, where he underwent surgery.

The eight-year police veteran is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery, Statesville Police Chief David Onley said.
