A Vermont trooper has resigned and will face charges that he padded his time sheets, a charge he denies.
Sgt. Jim Deeghan, a 22-year veteran of the Vermont State Police, pleaded not guilty Friday to two charges of false swearing, reports Vermont Public Radio.
In 2011, Sgt. Deeghan made $136,000, which was $56,000 more than his base salary.
