An 18-year-old man who reportedly shot and killed 14 children and a teacher at a Uvalde, TX, elementary school Tuesday morning was fatally shot by responding law enforcement.
Two responding law enforcement officers were among the injured, Gov. Greg Abbott said. The nature of the injuries has not been released. They are expected to survive, ABC13 reports.
Two additional victimsâa 10-year-old girl and a 66-year-old womanâwere reportedly critically wounded, according to KSAT.
The attack on Uvalde's Robb Elementary School began about 11:30 a.m.
Gov. Abbott said the gunmanâidentified by authorities as Uvalde High School student Salvador Ramos, 18âentered the school with a handgun and perhaps a rifle and began shooting.
Fox 29 reports San Antonio Police said they are sending SWAT, Eagle chopper and Crime Scene Investigators to assist Uvalde area law enforcement. Uvalde is about 85 miles west of San Antonio.
Abbott said the suspect's grandmother was also shot and killed before the school attack began.
