Deputy Brian Bell was conducting a traffic stop at 3:30 a.m. on County Road 512 between Fellsemere and Interstate 95. The deputy was arresting the passenger of the vehicle, 33-year-old Andrew Coffee, for drug possession.

Coffee broke away from Deputy Bell's grip as the driver, 28-year-old Wesley Clark drove away. The deputy was dragged several feet and nearly run over by the rear tire.

Coffee was arrested later and the arrest warrants have been issued for Clark for aggravated battery on law enforcement officer with deadly weapon, flee and elude, and leaving scene of accident with property damage.
