California lawmakers passed a dozen gun bills Wednesday that would tighten controls on ammunition purchases, ban semi-automatic rifles, and give a 15-day amnesty to illegal gun owners to hand over their guns.

Former NYPD Boss Kerik Leaves Prison

Bernard Kerik, the former NYPD commissioner whose fall from grace ended with a prison term in 2010, has returned home from a federal correctional facility. Kerik will likely serve out the rest of his term for eight felony convictions under home confinement.

Oregon to Parole Cop Killer

Oregon's parole board has brushed off objections from law enforcement to release a logger convicted of beating to death a John Day Police Department officer. Sidney Dean Porter, 52, is scheduled to go free on June 7.
