Officer in Northern California Shootout Dies

Officer Javier Bejar, one of the victims in Thursday's officer-involved shooting in Minkler, Calif., has died. The member of the Reedley (Calif.) Police Department was taken off life support about 5:30 a.m., the department announced.

Eastwood, 32, kept his hands folded in front of him and said nothing Wednesday during his brief court appearance, for which he appeared via closed-circuit video from the Jefferson County jail.

Former NOPD Supervisor Admits Katrina Shooting Cover Up

Admitting a cover-up of shocking breadth, a former New Orleans police supervisor pleaded guilty to a federal obstruction charge on Wednesday, confessing that he participated in a conspiracy to justify the shooting of six unarmed people after Hurricane Katrina that was hatched not long after police stopped firing their weapons.
