Wisconsin Officer Injured After Being Dragged by Teen Driver

A Fitchburg, Wis., police officer was injured Monday morning when he was dragged 450 feet, or nearly one city block, by a teenage driver who pinned the officer's arm in his car window and sped off, police said.

Brian Claunch, who had been living at the home for the past 18 months with two other men, ignored officers' commands and made threats against them and other occupants of the home, Garcia said the caretaker told him. Claunch trapped one of the officers in a corner, authorities said.

Phoenix Officers Protest Order to Wear Polyester Uniforms

Phoenix Police Chief Daniel V. Garcia has ordered that beginning Oct. 1, the department's 2,500 patrol officers must wear only their polyester-blend uniforms with dark-blue button-down shirts and dress-style pants. The black, cotton-blend polo shirt and tactical pants that patrol officers have had the option of wearing for the past 15 years will no longer be allowed.
