High-Crime LAPD Gang Units Dismantled

In exchange for revisions to the take-home car program, the APOA gave up retention bonuses for veteran officers (costing about $750,000 annually), loan reimbursements (costing $83,000), and mortgage incentives for signing a seven-year commitment (costing $98,000).

As with the population total, the number of unauthorized immigrants in the labor force had decreased in 2009 from its peak of 8.4 million in 2007.

Traffic Fatalities Drop In Cities With Red-Light Cameras

Researchers found that in the 14 cities that had cameras from 2004 to '08, the combined per capita rate of fatal red light running crashes fell 35 percent, compared with 1992-96. The rate also fell in the 48 cities without camera programs by 14 percent.

NFL Player Tasered, After Grabbing Officer's Crotch

After pulling him over, the officer asked Everson Griffen for his license, which turned out not to be valid. He reportedly then told them "he did not want to go back to jail" and sprinted away from the officers, who caught up with him. Griffen was Tasered after he allegedly grabbed the officer in the groin area.

LAPD Will Transfer Inmates To New Jail

The 55-year-old Parker Center has been cited by CalOSHA and other agencies for health and safety violations, such as plumbing problems and the lack of a fire sprinkler system, according to the LAPD's Assistant Police Chief Michel Moore.
