Officer David Sedmak’s trouble began when he heard a radio call on May 7 about a shooting at a downtown Houston Greyhound station. After learning that an officer had been shot, Sedmak left the campus – two minutes away from the scene – and rushed to the scene to help. Officers said Sedmak was a hero, but Rice University fired him for dereliction of duty.

Former Arizona Deputies Indicted for Drug Ripoff

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona announced today the unsealing of superseding indictment charging two former Pima County Deputy Sheriffs for a conspiracy to steal money that they believed was the proceeds of drug trafficking, and for the attempted acquisition and distribution of narcotics.

A Tennessee Highway Patrol crash report indicates Officer Frank Hernandez wasn't wearing his seat belt when he was involved in a crash with Murfreesboro resident Khamphan Phanthala, who the THP report indicates was at fault in the crash.

Ohio Officer Saves Teen from Drowning

Saturday evening, Officer Jim Ennemoser heard an emergency call for the fire department over the scanner, and decided to head to the river himself. "I was coming down the path right here, I could hear people yelling to the people in the water to try and make it to shore," Ennemoser said, while pointing to the spot of the incident.

Denver to Settle Police Abuse Suit for $117K

A man who alleged Denver police officers beat him with a flashlight or club in 2008, causing head injuries and collapsing his lung, will get a $117,500 settlement if the City Council approves the payout tonight.

A suspect is in critical condition Monday morning, after being shot by a Milwaukee Police officer. Investigators say the man charged at an officer with a knife, leading to the third officer-involved shooting in just a week.

Officer Who Responded to Joplin Tornado Dies from Lightning Injuries

Officer Jefferson "Jeff" Taylor, who was struck by lightning on Monday, May 23, while on tornado disaster response duty in Joplin, passed away at a hospital here on Friday. He was 31 years old. He worked for Riverside, a suburb on the north side of Kansas City.
