Convicted in the Media  

Special Agent Chris Deedy has been charged with second-degree murder in Hawaii following an off-duty shooting in front of a McDonald's in Waikiki. Headlines were quick to characterize Deedy as a killer and a murderer.

The High Price of Fame  

The Columbine killers, the Virginia Tech murderer, and the Aurora shooting suspect have all become household names. And I believe that the desire for stardom is at least part of the motivation for these massacres.

Two Chicago Cops Save One of Their Own  

Officer Kirsten Lund and Sgt. Christopher Kapa responded to an officer-down call and immediately transported the profusely bleeding Officer Del Pearson in a squad car to a nearby emergency room, saving his life.

Sgt. Adam Pasciak's mind began to feel like it was starting to shut down when he heard more gunshots ringing out—a lot of them. Sgt. Jim Turner had witnessed what happened and continued the foot pursuit of the driver, exchanging gunfire as they ran.

Defense Against Standing Choke Holds  

If a suspect is trying to choke you, you are in a deadly force encounter and accessing your handgun would be appropriate. But depending on what direction the bad guy assaults you from and the accuracy of your shot placement, your gun may not always provide the best immediate option.
