The deputies stopped 24-year-old Johnny Angel Ochoa, who was wanted on child endangerment and vandalism charges in Bay Point. After Ochoa gave the deputies a false name, he tried to speed away. One of the deputies had attempted to yank the keys out of the ignition of the vehicle, which struck the second deputy.

Wash. Deputy Dies From Injuries Caused by Vehicle Stop Assault

Dep. Shandon Wright could not be revived by deputies and paramedics who responded to his home. The deputy was at home with his wife and 2-year-old daughter. Wright suffered the injury Aug. 19 while responding to a vehicle stop in Spanaway.
