On the first night of TREXPO West 2009, four gang experts sat on a panel moderated by FOX 11 Los Angeles investigative reporter Chris Blatchford to discuss the challenges gangs pose for law enforcement.

Some impressive inventions were on display April 1–2 at the Long Beach, Calif., Convention Center. Companies displayed and sold their wares, many of which were interesting solutions to everyday problems in law enforcement.

Tactical consultant John Giduck used a lot of humor in his six-hour two-day keynote presentation at TREXPO West. And that's a good thing because Giduck's presentation is about Islamist terror attacks on children, especially school children. So if his audience of veteran cops and soldiers didn't have some comic relief, they'd probably start crying.

Both TREXPO's roots and its evolving focus were both evident in the product offerings at the West Coast edition of the conference held Feb. 19–22 in Long Beach, Calif. On the show floor of the Long Beach Convention Center, several new products made their debut and several others made their TREXPO debut.

Who says you can’t take it with you? Some of the coolest products at TREXPO West this year were made to be portable, and more than a few possessed that amazing “Why didn’t I think of that?” factor. Talk about a stellar combination.

TREXPO is both a trade show and an educational conference for law enforcement officers. And this year’s TREXPO West held recently in Long Beach, Calif., offered excellent training opportunities for both SWAT and patrol officers.

All you have to do is listen to Lt. Col. Dave Grossman for a few minutes, and you will quickly realize the great love that he has for America and for the men and women who secure the liberty of Americans.

Yes, the age of the tactical robot has truly arrived. So it's little wonder that robots were some of the stars of the show floor at the recent TREXPO West trade show in Los Angeles.

It’s easy to think of TREXPO as primarily a trade show. After all, some of the most interesting news to come out of each TREXPO usually involves some intriguing weapon or training aid. But the training and instruction that officers receive during the conference program at TREXPO can pay real dividends in the field. TREXPO West 2006 at the Los Angeles Convention Center was no exception.

It would have been difficult to find two TREXPO West keynote speakers who complemented each other in their message better than Kelly McCann and Col. Danny McKnight.

On the patio outside the Long Beach Convention Center there was a clear reminder of what the conference/trade show inside was all about. There, the Long Beach Police Department parked three tactical vehicles, and officers attending the recent Tactical Response Expo (TREXPO) West show had to pass by each to get into the doors.

Anyone who wanted a reminder of the deadly serious reason why TREXPO exists needed to look no further than the hallway outside the conference's seminar area.
