LAPD Officer Wounded, Suspect Killed in Boyle Heights Gun Battle
A Boyle Heights gun battle between Los Angeles police officers and a group of drug suspects Thursday left a narcotics detective wounded and a suspect dead. The detective, a 14-year veteran, suffered a non-life-threatening injury to one leg, but escaped a potentially deadly wound to his head when a bullet ricocheted off his helmet, authorities said.

Baton Rouge Officers Cleared by AG in Shooting of Alton Sterling
“Both officers reported that when they were on the ground, they saw Sterling’s right hand in his pocket, with his hand on a gun,” the Justice Department reported in announcing it would not prosecute them. “Officer Salamoni reported that he saw the gun coming out and attempted to grab it, but Sterling jerked away and attempted to grab the gun again. Officer Salamoni then saw “silver” and knew that he had seen a gun, so he began firing.” More Here.

Attorneys for Alton Sterling's children sent a letter Wednesday to Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome and Baton Rouge Police Chief Carl Dabadie demanding that the two officers involved in Sterling's fatal shooting last July be fired.
