Tiny Florida Town Shuts Down Police Department
The City Council of a tiny north Florida town known as one of the nation's worst speed traps has voted to disband its small police force. The Waldo City Council on Tuesday voted 4-1 to eliminate the department just weeks after the chief and interim chief resigned because of state investigations into many issues, including an illegal ticket quota. Brandon Jenkins, a master deputy, pulled over to help a stopped trailer in Knightdale off Interstate 64. About 60 boxes of Italian bees had fallen from the vehicle. When Jenkins returned to his cruiser, the bees swarmed.

Smugglers Using Barbed Wire Traps Against Border Agents
The devices consist of barbed wire stretched like clotheslines across trails used by agents on all-terrain vehicles. The lines, which are difficult to spot, are about four feet off the ground and appear to be intended to knock a rider off the ATV. There have been no known injuries.
