Sturm, Ruger & Co. has introduced the SR45, a .45 ACP entry to its line of SR polymer pistols. The SR45 is chambered in .45 ACP and comes with a 10-round magazine. It retains a similar slim profile of the SR9 and SR40.

Ruger's LC9

Ruger developed the LC9 as a 9mm version of its Lightweight Compact Pistol (LCP). The LC9 is a DAO hammer-fired sub-compact pistol that works well as a backup for off-duty law enforcement officers. The Ruger SR40c pistol has a 3.5-inch barrel and an overall length of 6.85 inches. The pistol weighs 23.40 ounces. The pistol is 4.61 inches high with a 1.27-inch-wide grip (across safety levers).

Ruger, at the NRA Show 2011, announced the SR-556E carbine, which the company is marketing as a value-priced alternative of the SR-556. Both rifles include the two-stage piston and multi-stage regulator that runs cooler and cleaner than traditional AR-style rifles.

Ruger's SR40 duty pistol may be the first semi-auto from the company that could catch on with law enforcement officers. Ruger introduced the first striker-fired polymer pistol, the SR9, in 2007. Because .40-caliber S&W is the leading duty ammo in law enforcement, the company introduced a pistol to compete in this realm. In his "Arsenal" review in the March issue of POLICE Magazine, Paul Scarlata called the SR40 a "a pleasingly accurate pistol."

The single-action, .45-auto Ruger SR1911 arrives with a stainless steel slide, barstock frame, 5-inch barrel and bushing. The slide features rear cocking serrations and a dovetailed three-dot sight system with a Novak rear sight and standard front sight.

The SR40's slide is machined from solid stainless steel, and it is the narrowest of any of its contemporaries. The slide also features very aggressive grasping grooves, making it easy to retract even with wet hands or when wearing gloves.
