Walnut Creek PD Buys Generation IV Talon EOD/CBRNE Robot

QinetiQ North America’s Technology Solutions Group has announced that the Walnut Creek (Calif.) Police Department has purchased and taken delivery of a new Generation IV Talon EOD/CBRNE robot. Walnut Creek’s Talon is specially equipped for scenarios frequently encountered by police Bomb Squads as well as being able to respond to scenes that may involve other types of hazardous material or devices.

The X-Net Vehicle Arresting System can be quickly deployed to stop a vehicle and make it impossible for the car to drive away. Barbed spikes in the leading edge of the net pierce the front tires, then the net envelops the tires and is pulled tight under the vehicle to stop the wheels and halt the vehicle in a non-lethal manner.
