Arrive Alive: Police Must Reduce Single-Vehicle Crashes on Patrol
Too many officers are driving themselves into their graves—turning their cars into their coffins—in single-vehicle crashes. According to ODMP, there were 34 such preventable duty deaths in a three-year span from 2016 to the present. It's impossible to know how many officers were seriously injured but survived single-vehicle crashes during that time period. Something must be done.

FBI Says Ballistic Vests, Seat Belts Not Worn in Many Officer Deaths
Of the 46 officers killed by firearms in 2014, 11 were not wearing bullet-resistant vests. During the same period, 10 of 28 officers killed in vehicle accidents were not wearing seat belts. Six of the 10 auto accident victims, according to the FBI report, were ejected from their vehicles during the crashes.

Fla. Sheriff Buys Ford Police Interceptor Sedans
The Marion County (Fla.) Sheriff's Office has received the first vehicle in an initial delivery of 36 new Ford Police Interceptor sedans equipped with 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engines. The sheriff's office stated it is receiving four to five new Police Interceptors each week and will have 60 to 70 new vehicles within a few months.
