Fremont officer Todd Young, 39, and a fellow officer had tried to arrest Andrew Barrientos, 20, who was wanted for a string of crimes. Young, who required 60 units of blood during surgery, is in critical but stable condition.

After serving several DEA warrants in Oakland, Fremont, Calif., police officer Todd Young and his partner headed into East Oakland in hopes of locating a wanted Union City gang member whose ex-girlfriend had said that he'd been hanging out in the area. The officers were met with gunfire, when they located their suspect.

Police ID Man Shot By BART, Oakland PD After Foot Pursuit
Fred Collins led five officers on a foot pursuit from the Bay Area Rapid Transit's (BART) Fruitville Station in Oakland. He had yelled "shoot me, shoot me, shoot me," to officers, who initially tried to stun him with TASERs.

Oakland Chief Releases List of 44 Crimes PD Won't Respond To
Chief Batts released a list of situations police won't respond to that includes grand theft, burglary, car wrecks, identity theft and vandalism. Several of the lesser crimes include discarding an appliance with a lock, an unauthorized cable TV connection and a stolen license plate.
