High school graduates are once again welcome at the New Orleans Police Department. The Civil Service Commission voted unanimously Monday to eliminate a rule requiring most applicants to have 60 hours college credit in order to qualify for a job on the force.

For the first time in a decade, the Miami Beach (Fla.) Police Department is set to require a four-year college degree for all new officers. The department is also raising the minimum hiring age from 19 to 21 years old.
