Northern Nevada investigators say the man who hijacked a state trooper's cruiser and used the patrolman's shotgun to carjack another car before allegedly committing suicide appears to have died from a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.

State Agencies Select Smith & Wesson M&P Rifles

Nevada DPS joins a number of law enforcement agencies that have converted to Smith & Wesson tactical rifles, including the Nebraska State Patrol, which also recently selected duty rifles the M&P Series.

When Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Carlos Borland pulled over a Chevrolet Blazer on I-80 in response to a call that originated from a nearby truck stop, he did so without the knowledge that the vehicle's driver was an escapee from a North Carolina prison and that he had allegedly murdered two people the previous week. The Blazer was itself reported stolen and bearing license plates stolen from yet another vehicle.
