New Recruits Join Savannah-Chatham PD
Fourteen new recruits have joined the Savannah-Chatham (Ga.) Police Department, following 19 weeks of training in the academy. The recruits, who were sworn in July 26 at the Savannah Civic Center, included Nicholas Wissner, a former Army Ranger with five combat deployments.

The officers stopped by Pike Place Market before returning to New York. While their rental car was parked nearby, thieves broke into the 2010 Ford Explorer and ripped off all their luggage, including the uniforms they wore to the memorial.

SWAT Officers Shot In Raid In Lakewood, N.J.
A gunman opened fire early Thursday on a SWAT team that burst into a home during a drug and gun raid, wounding four officiers while spraying bullets from atop a staircase, authorities said. One officer was critically wounded.

Sheriff's Spokesman Says No Specific Threats Were Made Against Lakewood Police
The gunman walked into the coffee shop and shot two of the Lakewood officers as they sat down. The other two officers stood up. One officer was killed. The fourth officer fought the gunman and may have injured him. The officer was able to fire his weapon said Pierce County sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said.
