Fifth Avenue Vet to Help Train NYPD K-9 Handlers
The K-9 Unit of the New York Police Department will soon be fully prepared to provide vital immediate first-aid care for their four-legged partners in case of an on-the-job injury or accident. K-9 handlers and officers have been invited to undergo extensive emergency intervention training as a part of the exclusive NYPD Emergency Veterinary Training program, which kicked off with an intensive three-hour course this week.

FL K-9 Found Dead in Handler’s Patrol Vehicle
The Sebastian officer found the German shepherd’s remains in the sweltering vehicle about 7:30 p.m. Friday. Sebastian Police Department's dispatchers contacted Melbourne's, who then called Brevard County Animal Services. Investigators are looking into reports the officer may have forgotten the dog, named Diesel, was in the vehicle during a visit to the Brevard County courthouse.
