The French television station LCI said a group calling itself the Afghan Revolutionary Front claimed in a statement to AFP that it had planted the explosives. Have We Forgotten the Lessons of 9/11?

October 1, 2007

Baaah! Baaah! That's the sound of me once again becoming a sheep. I thought I had shed my wool back around 7:30 a.m. PST on Sept. 11, 2001, when I watched a second airliner slam into the World Trade Center.

Car Bombings

September 1, 2007

There is one weapon of mass destruction that we are certain the terrorists possess and have the know-how to use. They use it every day in Iraq. They've used it frequently in Afghanistan. This weapon is the vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED), commonly known as the "car bomb."

TREXPO West 2007: Double Duty

May 1, 2007

All you have to do is listen to Lt. Col. Dave Grossman for a few minutes, and you will quickly realize the great love that he has for America and for the men and women who secure the liberty of Americans.

Get Real, America

September 1, 2006

I have a lot of concerns about our now five-year-old war on terror. But the biggest is that we can't even come out and say who we're fighting. Many people don't take this war seriously because our leadership has not had the guts to come out and say who we're fighting.

Eyes Wide Shut

June 1, 2006

Many Americans have failed to learn the real message of that day. We were not attacked by a small band of zealots with box cutters but an ideology that still thrives in the world and must be defeated before there can be peace.

Anxiety Attack

September 1, 2004

As terrorists continue to expand their knowledge base, their capability to unleash weapons of mass destruction on the American public moves from the realm of fictional thrillers to all-too-real concerns for public safety.

Watching the Neighborhood

April 1, 2004

The 9/11 atrocities changed America. But unless they were directly affected, I don't think it really changed individual Americans. In fact, I think it had the opposite effect. If you were liberal before the attack, it made you more liberal; conservative, more conservative; pacifist, more pacifist...

9/11: Port Authority Police Department

September 1, 2002

Thirty-seven. That's how many New York/New Jersey Port Authority Police officers came to work on Sept. 11, 2001, and never went home. More than 2 percent of the agency's complement of 1,400 was killed in the attack, and to add insult to extreme injury, its headquarters were on the 67th floor of 1 World Trade Center.

Team LAX

April 1, 2002

You can say with just a little bit of hyperbole that all Americans and all American landmarks are targets of Al Qaeda in the war on terror. However, some places are more vulnerable and have drawn more attention from the worldwide network of Islamic fanatics than others.

The Call Up

April 1, 2002

As the terrible events of Sept. 11, 2001, began to unfold, many Americans watched the burning North Tower of the World Trade Center on their TVs and wondered what kind of horrific airline “accident” had taken place in Manhattan. Then as the live TV cameras rolled, United Airlines Flight 175 sliced into the South Tower, confirming the worst fears. This was no accident; it was enemy action.

I Heard the Snap of the Tower...

November 1, 2001

On the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, shortly after eight in the morning, I transmitted a tone and announced a third alarm for the borough of Manhattan, N.Y. The call was initially reported as a high-rise fire in the World Trade Center tower 1.

Euro Counter-Terrorism
