Georgia Sheriff Adds 30 Hybrid Propane Patrol Vehicles
Force 911 has completed the installation of 30 hybrid propane fuel systems for Jackson County (Ga.) Sheriff's Department. The fuel conversions create a dual fuel system in each vehicle, allowing it to run on traditional gasoline or propane gas. The county was able to purchase the propane fuel systems using seized drug funds.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is deploying a new canine explosive detector team to the field that has a special connection to keeping people in the New Jersey area safe. CBP K-9 “Sirius,” a Black Labrador retriever born on September 23, 2004, at the CBP Canine Enforcement Training Center (CETC), received her name to honor the only working dog that died in World Trade Center attacks.

He and his partner Michael Henry, officers in the 94th Precinct in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, helped dust-covered people fleeing Manhattan over bridges to Brooklyn and on ferries to New Jersey, then stood guard at the gates around Ground Zero in the days that followed, Henry recalled. The officers covered their faces, he said, with the masks worn by house painters.
