Sturm, Ruger & Co. SR-762 Rifle

February 14, 2014

The SR-762 I received from Ruger was an impressive looking and feeling rifle. While at 8.6 pounds it's no lightweight, it was nicely balanced for fast, natural handling.

Daniel Defense DDM4 Rifle with Lite Rail

January 6, 2014

When my test and evaluation DDM4 arrived, I tore into the box like a kid on Christmas morning. Inside was a beautiful DDM4 rifle with a 16-inch barrel, Magpul MOE stock, DD's fixed front and rear sights, a Superior Suppression muzzle device, and a 12-inch Lite Rail II (LRII).

SIG Sauer P227 Pistol

December 23, 2013

If SIG was to capture a larger share of this market it needed to offer a high-capacity .45 pistol. And that's just what it did earlier this year when it released the P227.

Glock G21 Gen 4 Pistol

November 11, 2013

The G21 has always been one of my favorite Glock pistols. My evaluation of the G21 Gen 4 involved five veteran shooters who shot the pistol during four different range sessions.

Heckler & Koch HK45 Compact Tactical

October 10, 2013

You can tell very quickly when you open the box that the HK45CT is more than just an update of the combat proven HK USP Compact. Ergonomically, this is a 21st-century pistol all the way, but it offers the reliability and toughness of a classic HK.

Glock 30S Subcompact Pistol

September 11, 2013

The Glock 30S frame is borrowed from the 30SF; a subcompact .45 ACP with a capacity of 10 rounds. The benefit here is a larger frame allowing for 10-round capacity.

Springfield Armory XD-S Sub-Compact Pistol

The 9mm Springfield Armory XD-S sub-compact pistol is designed to function with a single column magazine, and is a departure from the traditional pocket pistols that were available in the 20th century because the new XD-S is chambered in 9mm and .45 ACP calibers.

In addition to its service with the Israel Defense Forces, the Tavor has been adopted by military units and law enforcement agencies in many different countries. Select fire and semi-auto versions of the Tavor are available for a variety of applications.

Sturm, Ruger & Co. LC380 Subcompact Pistol

June 19, 2013

As you might have ascertained by its model designation, the LC380 is essentially the LC9 modified to fire the .380 cartridge. In fact, the LC380 is identical to the LC9 in every respect, except for the caliber and a minuscule variation in weight.

FNH USA FNX-45 Duty Pistol

May 22, 2013

A few years ago, FN introduced the successor to the FNP line, the FNX. Like the FNP, the FNX is a hammer-fired, polymer-framed duty pistol with a double-action/single-action trigger system. The latest model in the series is the worthy successor to the FNP-45, the FNX-45.

SIG Sauer P224 SAS DAK Pistol

April 17, 2013

The P224 is basically a P229 that has been cut down to fit the traditional dimensions of a subcompact. It's available in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .357 SIG. The SAS (anti-snag) model also features a recessed hammer and a dehorned slide and frame.

Beretta 3032 Tomcat Subcompact Pistol

March 21, 2013

Today Beretta's Model 92 gets all the attention, but the company has not forgotten its roots and still offers a number of blowback-operated, sub-compact pistols. The .32 ACP Beretta Tomcat is an extremely small concealed carry pistol that some officers use for backup and off-duty carry.

SIG Sauer 716 Patrol Rifle

January 9, 2013

The SIG716 makes a great first impression. It's a ruggedly built 7.62mm carbine with a 16-inch barrel and a free-floating quad rail. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning when I was opening the box.

Springfield Armory XD Sub-Compact 3" Pistol

December 17, 2012

The XD Sub-Compact pistols scored well in my CQB drills. I had no problem using the 9mm XD Sub-Compact to consistently engage a steel plate the same size as the scoring area of a TQ19 Police Qualification Target at various distances, including at longer ranges.

SIG Sauer P250 Subcompact Pistol

The Colt LE901-16S is a very versatile direct impingement gas-operated carbine with a 16.1-inch barrel. It's commonly referred to as a "modular carbine" because users can easily transform it from a 7.62mm NATO caliber carbine to a 5.56mm M4 carbine.
