LAPD Field-Tests Electric Bicycles for Patrol
Officers with the LAPD's bicycle unit will begin field-testing Currie Technologies' IZIP Express electric bicycles at special events to determine their viability for patrol. Currie supplied the unit with prototype models for initial evaluation a year ago. The company then modified the electric bicycle's components and design, incorporating feedback from officers.

Polaris eBikes Arrive for Public Safety Agencies
Market Builders, Inc. of Salt Lake City will offer the eBikes—eight-speed bicycles with an electric motor and powered by a rechargeable lithium ion battery. The Polaris eBikes can travel up to 30 miles on a single charge at a speed of up to 20 mph.

NYPD Acquires Electric Chevy Volts
The New York Police Department added 50 Chevrolet Volts to its fleet as part of a fleet greening initiative by the city. The Volt will be the first electric vehicle used by the NYPD, which also uses electric scooters and golf carts. The vehicles are part of an effort to reduce air pollution, carbon emissions, and gasoline consumption.
