At its peak, the Norte Valle Cartel was responsible for 60 percent of the cocaine exported from Colombia to the U.S. Between 1990 and 2004, the cartel exported more than 1.2 million pounds, or 500 metric tons, of cocaine worth more than $10 billion.

A Colombian trafficker and lead operative from the cartel Los Urabenos has been extradited to Florida to face federal charges, the FBI announced Wednesday. Camilo ("Fritanga") Torres-Martinez, 41, was arrested while celebrating his marriage in an elaborate wedding on a Caribbean island.
