Edged Weapons

Gang members on the street and inside prisons acquire edged weapons to use in close-quarter attacks on rival gang members or law enforcement officers. Street gang members typically will use fixed-blade knives, daggers, folding knives, butterfly knives or other utility tools, while inmates fashion their own jail-made shanks and other weapons from boot reinforcements, bed wiring, and other materials. NFL Player Tasered, After Grabbing Officer's Crotch

After pulling him over, the officer asked Everson Griffen for his license, which turned out not to be valid. He reportedly then told them "he did not want to go back to jail" and sprinted away from the officers, who caught up with him. Griffen was Tasered after he allegedly grabbed the officer in the groin area.

Prison Shanks

The jail-made "shank" is fashioned from this material by sharpened by scraping the metal on concrete floors. A handle is fashioned from paper or cloth. Since the length of the shank is small, the handle is often held in the palm of the fist with the blade protruding from between the middle and ring fingers like a push dagger.

Bar Patron Shot After Striking Indianapolis Cop With Vehicle

Officer Deanne Pulley, a 21-year veteran, was struck twice by the vehicle driven by Michelle Marsh, 31, outside of Lizards Pub and Grill at about 10 p.m. Sunday. Pulley's partner, Officer Christin Rudell, returned fire, striking Marsh in the abdomen.

California Gang Detective Wounded By Gunfire From Vehicle

The detective driving the vehicle was struck once in the upper torso by gunfire and was immediately transported to a local hospital by his partner. He's 30 years old, a seven-year member of LBPD and expected to fully recover.

On Monday, the state's top correctional official told POLICE Magazine the agency was well aware of Byron Sherf's violent past and allowed him additional access privileges, because he had shown good behavior. It was one reason Sherf was transferred to the medium-security Monroe facility.

The clip shows a gunman striding into the station, and spraying volleys from a shotgun at surprised officers before being fatally wounded within inches of three of his victims. The 45-year-old officer was hit multiple times, after he pulled over a 1984 Dodge SUV for speeding along Highway 101. State troopers used spike strips to stop the vehicle about 40 miles south of Lincoln City and are searching for the suspect, who fled into the woods.
