Alabama Agencies Replace Dash Camcorders With In-Car Video
The Russell County Sheriff's Department and Phenix City Police Department (in Alabama) are using a Justice Department grant to add in-car video to patrol vehicles. The agencies are upgrade to new Digital Ally camera gear and replacing Sony cancorders mounted to the dashboards. The new systems will improve reliability, deliver better quality video, and free up space in the squad car.

Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., introduced a $3.6 billion measure, which would direct $679.3 million toward Capitol Police and related security efforts.
