Really bad subject. Usage: Massachusetts State Police. The "R" codes are used to indicate radio signal strength, R1 being the weakest and R9 being the strongest. This code is also applied to describe subjects over the radio to alert the officer dealing with him/her that there is a potential problem or that the person is known to be a good guy/gal, as in "Be advised, that subject is R9" ("good to go"). Conversely, "R1 fading fast" means someone at the other end of the spectrum, in other words, "Beware, no good."
