Chief and Officers Resign from Small TN Agency

The newly appointed chief said the department was already short-staffed before the resignations. They had three officers before the incident, and to be fully staffed, they needed six.

The chief and two officers of the Jacksboro (TN) Police Department resigned Monday. The reason for the resignations has not been released.

The newly appointed chief, Daniel Smith, told WATE that the only officer who didn’t leave was Franklin Ayers. Ayers is now the assistant chief, leaving the department with only two full-time staff.

The Campbell County Sheriff’s Department plans to assist the Jacksboro PD with duties in the small town.
