Fallen Chicago Officer Found Unconscious in Car Identified

July 11, 2018  |

A female Chicago Police officer who died Tuesday morning after being found unconscious in her patrol vehicle has been identified as 47-year-old Vinita Williams.

Williams had been taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead less than an hour after arrival. It was not immediately clear what caused her to fall unconscious.

Williams leaves behind a husband and two sons according to the Chicago Sun Times.

Williams' death comes two days after another officer — 36-year-old Brandon Krueger — fatally shot himself inside a squad car in the parking lot of the same station.

Rest in peace Officer Williams and prayers to your family. Whatever caused you to allegedly take your own life must have been too much to bear. I would hope a thorough investigation is forthcoming so that it is proven a suicide beyond a reasonable doubt.
