NYPD Officers Reassigned for Taking Picture with Stripper

Two of the four female officers who posed with a male stripper at a Mother’s Day event in Upper Manhattan have been returned to regular patrol.

In late May, four female NYPD officers assigned to a community outreach program posed for a photo with a “strapping male stripper” at a Mother’s Day event in Upper Manhattan.

The “neighborhood policing” initiative under which the officers worked had the officers spending the bulk of their time meeting with local residents and community members, rather than answering radio calls.

According to a report by the New York Post, two of the officers in the photo have now been returned to regular patrol, answering 911 calls and responding to crimes in progress.

The male stripper in the photo — Jude Menelas, whose stage name is “Messiah” — told the Post, “It was an innocent picture… They did nothing to embarrass their shields, their uniform, or me.”
