VIDEO: Bus Passengers Assist State Trooper Under Attack

After a bus passenger started punching an Ohio State trooper, other passengers came to the trooper's aid, reports the Columbus Dispatch.

A Greyhound bus driver concerned about a passenger acting strangely contacted the Ohio State Highway Patrol and pulled to the side of the road. A cellphone video posted to YouTube shows passenger Antoinette Taylor, 26, yelling at riders inside the bus. Trooper Tressa Winans then boards the bus.

"All of a sudden you see fists flying and the trooper’s hat is knocked off and they’re falling out of the bus," patrol spokesman Lt. Craig Cvetan said.

The video, shot from inside the bus, shows Taylor pinning Winans near a guardrail and punching her and pulling her hair. Passengers inside call on others to help. That’s when the driver and a passenger grab Taylor from behind so that Winans can regain control and handcuff her.

Taylor was charged with assault on a police officer, a fourth-degree felony.

Winans was treated for cuts and bruises, including on her head and face.

I am a 30 year vet police office. I am not a big man in fact I am short and weigh about 200 lbs.
If that lady would have pulled that shenanigan on me she would have ended up on he back sucking wind period. Not big talk have been there done that. I have had knock down drag out fest while enforcing the law; however never had a crazy lady give me a good old fashion whipping?
There is a moral to this story & in this case could have ended very ugly---very ugly!

Maybe I am out there but our job requires the ability to think, & defend yourself ! When u have arms like a pencil no upper body strength , no ability to back hand someone into next week them you are not qualified for the job PERIOD!
This is not a job for others to make a political statement & in doing so they will & have got people killed!
Next u will see the qualification for special forces hacked to pieces so a women can wear the Trident?
The world is gone nuts !

Hindsight is easy but I believe it would have been prudent to have had backup rolling on this one.

Apparently, neither of you watched the video. The attacker is not involved in the traffic stop and is seen walking forward on the bus in the middle isle as the Trooper is about to leave. The attacker dives over a metal retaining shield and between several people at the Troopers head. I don't care if she were a man 6'4" 250 Lbs there was no way to prepare for that attack or see it coming until the moment it happened. Since she was tackled at the head level she was naturally thrown out of the bus being top heavy with the attacker trying violently to strangle her with a scarf. As for back-up, OSHP and the PUCO Officers work pretty much independently of other LEO's.
