A Cleveland Police officer assigned to President Barack Obama's protection detail suffered a medical emergency on duty and later died, the agency told POLICE Magazine.

Officer Marcia Figueroa collapsed at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport after reporting for a protective detail for Air Force One and President Barack Obama during a campaign visit.

Officer Figueroa, a 14-year veteran, died Sunday at University Hospital. Flags are being flown at half-staff today in her honor.

"We are all truly saddened by her sudden passing," according to a department statement. "Marcia will be missed."

R.I.P And may God Bless your soul and thanks you for your service

The sad thing is, during his time in office President Obama twice skipped the National Peace Officers' Memorial service which honors officers like this one. Wonder if he would show up this time?

Nichole @ 11/6/2012 4:11 AM

Oh, shut up Sherri. Like he didn't have something else important to do at the time. Christ.

Prayers to this officer's family who must be in grief-stricken shock to lose a loved one so suddenly. Thank you for your service, Officer Figueroa. May God comfort your family.

I agree with you Sherri. Obama has never showed military personal nor law enforcement the respect they deserve. And Nichole put a cork in it. This is the time and place to be showing support for this officers fellow troopers and family.

Thank you for your service. As to those playing politics at this tragic time. 1) have some decency and respect, 2) try knowing what you're talking about:
Obama spoke at the National Peace Officers' Memorial Service in 2010 and 2012. Bush missed one, too.
