The Houston Police Department suspended one of its sergeants, after an investigation revealed that she posted about 100 racy and nude photos of herself on a modeling Website.

Sgt. Stacey Suro, a 42-year-old single mother, had posted the photos on the Model Mayhem site and included a bio referring to herself as "Tessoro." Some of the photos included fetish and bondage content, reports KPRC.

The department is continuing its investigation of the 20-year veteran, who was placed on paid leave.

Well, her credibility is shot, what on earth was she thinking? I feel bad for the dept. this certainly is a public information nightmare and disaster. It makes her cheap and taudry, takes away from her professionalism glad I do not work for this dept. I am embarassed for my female counterparts in this dept. Shameful behavior.

Jay @ 10/4/2012 4:10 PM

Who cares. Why does it matter that she posted these photos? She did not use her real name, nor state that she was in law enforcement. Someone had to be on that site and recognize her. That does not make her less of a cop or tarnish her reputation.

Doug M. @ 10/4/2012 4:13 PM

Maybe stupid, maybe CUBO, depending on how she was identified as an HPD officer, but no impact on credibility at all. Have you read Brady and its progeny? This is not relevant or admissible in any case in which she might testify.

Sgt. Joe @ 10/4/2012 4:15 PM

Another slutty chick in the P.D. big suprise.

Billy Klubb @ 10/4/2012 4:44 PM

When you're horn dumb, it's for a long time.

south fla deputy @ 10/4/2012 5:50 PM

why am i not surprised she's a sergeant? 20 years and still made this poor decision. you can argue all you want she should be able to do what she wants off duty, but we all know that doesn't apply to leos. especially for something of this nature. this reflects poorly on her judgement and on the dept she works for. the press will go wild with it. i wonder how long she was on road patrol before she had her choice of specialized units, leading to her looking great on paper for promotion to sergeant. i'm a 20 year vet, 10 years on the sgt list because i'm not a hot chick or politically connected to the current administration. integrity, hard work, job knowledge, quality arrests, and handling problems every day without drama, violence or poor judgement will never get you stripes where i work. but i can always count on the sgt suros out there to show how image beats substance every time. i wonder what other dumb things she's done during her 20 years that friends in the glass tower were able to sweep under the rug. this might have been her karma coming back to her. ha! from all the road guys who pick up your slack, well done stacey!

Randy @ 10/4/2012 5:59 PM

It figures this makes the news but not how good Cops are being ruthlessly eliminated by corruption in deadly circumstance. There is no hope for the human race.

Bud Chapman @ 10/4/2012 6:16 PM

My comment is this "That a female police woman apparently is supposed to forget that she's a woman, and become masculine when she goes into uniform, I have just got to say that's BS". If I was young enough and my woman was a female policeman(nomenclature not withstanding) I'd would definitely want to stay as feminine for as long as she could. Just a personal opinion!

Mike @ 10/4/2012 6:30 PM

I am a 30 year veteran police officer. I believe that law enforcement officers are leaders and should be setting the example. I am reminded of a quote from Dave Smith (Buck Savage) "...Being in the fraternity of law enforcement means each man and woman must care for the honor of their brothers and sisters. Such honor is made greater and preserved by courage and duty and damaged when we selfishly or foolishly comment or post other things that not only make us seem immature or insensitive, but also stains the profession.” This type of behavior by Sgt Suro speaks for itself. Some of us forget that we are cops and that makes all the difference in the world.

Sgt. Rick-Retired @ 10/4/2012 6:40 PM

Everyone makes a mistake now and then. The real issue is, was she a good supervisor. This is the 21st Century, and we look at morality differently today than in the past. Remember, one of our major political Parties wanted to take the word God out of their platform. The President bows to a Saudi Prince; it's a Brave New World, and the 1st Amendment gives her the right to express herself, as long as she does not say she's the police or wears a uniform when she does it. Back in the day, if a woman was even living with s msn outside of marriage they would deny her employment for Moral Turpitude! Now we have lost our ability to be critical of almost any situation. Man on man, woman on woman; anything goes! And please don't tell me about the Higher Standard Nonsense. Higher than whom?

Mike @ 10/4/2012 8:21 PM

Just wondering, if she were only a model and having an affair with a married male officer, would this even be newsworthy? Then again, things like this never happen, do they!!??

hank hill @ 10/4/2012 8:24 PM

not bad for 42! she should give up leo and go for model job!

Boice @ 10/4/2012 8:35 PM

Being in LE you always have to think who will this affect today or tomarrow? And will it affect my Dept? And how will I feel tomarrow or in 5 years from now. What was she thinking???? Eyes are always on us, from cutting grass to shopping did she really think that she wouldn't be caught.public waits for us to screw up. It has nothing to do with being a woman she should have kept private an not post that stuff were the public could get it. Best of luck to her

DEADMAN @ 10/4/2012 9:52 PM

You know they used to have pictures, that i would not called racy in this magazine but women officers complained and the magazine caved and i don't see any complaints or suspensions when the men strip down to bathing shorts or gym shorts for police calendars, not having seen and not going to look at her photos,i don't think it would be all that bad unless she was naked or was with another person in a scenario type sex act.A dressing down is all that is needed, did she say no to somebody that's why she is in the hot seat. She tok precautions as to not identify herself as a member of that dept.,let it lie.Much ado about nothing.

Steve @ 10/5/2012 2:41 AM

Does it REALLY have any bearing on her credibility whatsoever.... HELL NO!! Everyone that's posted their opinions is all well and good.... HOWEVER, I HIGHLY doubt you guy/gals sit home after work and watch preachers on TV all day long. Gimme a break folks. If ANYTHING it will show that we cops are humans too! Who gives a rats ass what she does when she's not working??? Don't give me this CUBO crap either. Because SOMEONE that KNOWS her was quite obviously on that particular website. Will he or she get hit with CUBO too!?!?! I think she is hot as HELL, especially for a 42 year old!!!! Leave her the hell alone..... P.S. Besides....I bet SOMEONE that posted here went to the website mentioned and tried to check her out, I haven't...... YET......

Be safe and ALWAYS go home at E.O.T.!!!!!!

Donna @ 10/5/2012 5:39 AM

I find it interesting that several men are referring to her as slutty, and such, yet the double standard seems to prevail when it is ok for the male officer to screw around. She did nothing wrong to comprise her credibility. Maybe people are just intimidated by her strength and self confidence.

Dan @ 10/5/2012 6:26 AM

I've written policy for our dept. If her policy said it's a no, no, they have a point. It may be 20th century, but it's a point. Did she do it to keep food on the table and a roof over her kids' heads? Maybe that's a game changer. Fact remains, she was off-duty and did not refer to herself as a police officer. Leave her be.

Steve @ 10/5/2012 6:33 AM

I have to believe this woman is going through some kind of middle age crisis. Single, mother, cop, just with those three circumstances poor judgement is always a possibility. Hey, there are issues here not known. The HPD should strongly consider counceling for this officer and her family. We've all used poor judgement at one time or another in our lives/career. Give this officer a chance to figure out where she went wrong/needs help, and hopefully get it, before throwing her out. What SHE may not realize is she's made it tough on herself ever living this incident down, especially around a bunch of male cops.

Matt @ 10/5/2012 8:01 AM

No matter what our opinion is of her rights to do as she pleases outside of the job, consider this: once this story became public every male officer (and maybe a few females too) tried to find those pictures on the Internet (hopefully they didn't do it on a department machine). What kind of example is she now for those she supervises? How much true respect is she going be be shown by many of the officers in her command? Can she truly be an effective supervisor when her subordinates are thinking more about what she looked like out of uniform? An attractive supervisor (male or female) is going to have some of that anyway, but Suro just threw it in everone's faces, leaving nothing to the imagination. this type of thing will make it impossible for her to have any command respect from the troops for a long time. She may weather this storm, but she is going to have quite a long road ahead of her before people put this behind them and move on.

We had something similar in our department several years ago I had to investigate. To this day, I have a difficult time not thinking of the pictures of this particular female officer when I see her around and this was over 10 years ago. Our case did not make the news and was handled internally, but it had a long lasting impact on her.

We have a duty to hold ourselves to a higher ethical and moral standard in my opinion.

Tony T @ 10/5/2012 8:38 AM

Make her sign a waiver that she will never sue for sexual harassment.

LeoGeo @ 10/5/2012 11:58 AM

I can't believe how many people are being so critical of this Sergeant. It has nothing to do with her job, nothing to do with her judgment or ability.

kevin @ 10/5/2012 2:24 PM

They prob just jealous because they dont look like her. She wasnt on duty and didnt identify herself as a cop so its none of their business! Pay her for 24 hours a day then it can be their business. Thia is still america and she still has a right to freedom. Leave her alone!!

Doc @ 10/5/2012 3:45 PM

Kevin: lot's of reasonable - moronic statements here, but yours struck me as being right on the money. When she (or any other officer is paid for 24 hours) then being a member of the Borg can possibly be discussed. The most troubling comments above are from the pius, sexually insecure and anal commentators. Being in this line of work, we would all do ourselves a favor by finding silly things silly. This was one of the top 10 who gives a hoot topics.

Lt. Scanlan @ 10/5/2012 4:56 PM

Right on - Kevin and Doc.

John @ 10/5/2012 7:21 PM

I could care less about her posting non uniformed photos while off duty. How does she conduct herself while on duty? Maybe her dept. should investigate straight laced individuals who are s.o.b.'s on duty. We all know that every large department has at least a few.

John @ 10/5/2012 7:56 PM

P.S. Police Magazine staff, how about a monthly centerfold? Maybe Sgt. Suro could be the first one.

Kevin @ 10/6/2012 6:07 AM

First, she may be a cop, but she never identified herself as one. She was NOT on duty. I have been in LE for 20 years and have dealt with being told what I can and can't do while I'm off duty. It is my opinion, that if you are not on the clock and not breaking the law, then it is nobody's business what you are doing. As I said before, this is still America and yes cops pay taxes too and the constitution applies to us too. It makes me wonder who found these. If another cop found them, then doesn't that make them as guilty for something she is. They tell us we are cops 24 hours a day. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't get paid for 24 hours a day. This lady done what she wanted to do without any form of identification as cop. Leave her alone, that is her choice and hers alone. I could see it if she had a photo of her uniform or something that identifies her. In this case, the only thing that identified her was someones big mouth who wanted to mind someone elses business besides their own. To my knowledge, she didn't do anything illegal. Does this mean she can't go to the beach on vacation and wear a bikini? Think about it folks, this is redicoulus.

Jim A @ 10/7/2012 12:44 PM

This has nothing to do with her job at all. Where it may not have been the best life decision, it was not in uniform, did not mention her profession, and was on a MODEL website. There are two questions. One question is, who brought "shame" to her department. Was it she (no, because nobody knew!) or was it someone else (Yes.) And the most important question is whether she can do her job.

Now that I have expressed my non-sexist and mature thoughts, I would also like to say that for 42 years old, she is exceptionally attractive. You GO girl!

Nichole @ 10/8/2012 7:33 AM

I've been to the site and seen her images. While not all of them are "tasteful" by normal public standards, I don't see how this should have any impact on her. What you do in private should have nothing to do with your job, even if you do post on a MEMBERS ONLY website.

It's shameful for the person who decided to call her out on. Why were they even on that site? You have to sign up to even view the images in most cases. Her's is no exception. You can't view her profile or her images without signing in. Yes, you can see them on a google search, especially now since that story broke, but her real name isn't mentioned at all. You would have to know her ACTUAL USERNAME on the MEMBERS ONLY site to find her.

Retarded.

Nichole @ 10/8/2012 7:37 AM

And to further my comment above, I happen to like her images, even the non "tasteful" ones. She's built like a brick shithouse. Good for her.

Bill Marble @ 10/8/2012 9:22 AM

The rule to understand is that any action that may bring discredit on the department opens the officer for punishment. The sergeant, as a supervisor, should know this.

Eric Fuller @ 12/30/2012 10:00 AM

Born dumb..... long time..... Ha.......love it. 100% correct in this case.

Capt. Crunch @ 12/30/2012 11:18 AM

Sgt. Suro, looks hot. John, has a good idea about a centerfold each month in Police Magine. Hey why not.

Steve @ 12/30/2012 2:23 PM

If she's got it, hell why not falunt it. As long as there is nothing illegal in what she did I say "you go for it girl". Departmental values and morals - I think everyone needs to look deep into both their own pasts and their departments history - I doubt any is squeeky clean...

JIMMY JAMES @ 3/19/2013 10:38 PM

...SOMEONE'S WIFE--SOME WIFE MARRIED TO SOMEONE OF AUTHORITY HERE--SOME CAPTAIN'S OR COMMANDER'S BIG "JABBA THE HUT" WIFE HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THIS, I'LL BET YOU ANYTHING.

Glockthis @ 3/22/2013 6:32 AM

Hey, I'm glad she was not fired but it was a bone-head move to post those pics. Take your lumps and get back to work. At least she still has a job.

JohnnyO @ 9/15/2013 12:05 PM

I know the article was awhile ago but she was modeling...if it was Heidi Klum nobody would have even blinked .If it was pornagraphy or victoria's secret then by all means . But it sounds more like a tempest in a tea cup, tarnished reputation laughable
