A suspect is in custody for the murder of an Aiken (S.C.) Department of Public Safety officer who was shot to death Saturday morning, reports the Post and Courier.

Joshua Tremaine Jones, 26, was arrested Saturday night in a Batesburg-Leesville home, hours after the shooting was reported near a local park. Jones is also suspected of killing his pregnant girlfriend, Cayce Vice.

Master Cpl. Sandy Rogers, 48, a 27-year veteran of the force, was shot while investigating a suspicious vehicle in an Aiken park about 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

Another senseless killing of a fellow officer by a scumbag. It would not surprise me that he has a long criminal history, and was released to due to over crowding or budget cuts.

Aiken is mourning the heinous killing of two of it's compassionate, caring, severely dedicated officers. Aiken is a small and wonderful community, a terrific place to call home and lauded by many national publications. Trust their deaths will not be in vain. We will stop this, we will protect our officers. The element responsible for such crimes will end because we are a community of one, regardless of race, ethnicity, or social status. God Bless you in heaven Officer Richardson and Officer Rogers; We will 'weather the storm' because of your kindness and dedication to making our community such a wonderful place on earth.

SC CWP civilian (Glock 45), 19 year old Robber (Hi-Point 9mm). The 19 year old lost his life on his birthday. Excellent, text, and video explanation from the Sheriff. The other robber was captured, thank God.

My sympathy goes out to the family of Master Cpl. Sandy Rogers and the Vice family. Our laws need to be more tougher on criminals. We are living in terrible times.

Officer Roger's loss is everyone's loss! Condolences to the family friends & colleagues.
We must always be vigilant in our efforts to protect & serve our respective communities. Complacency on the job is dangerous. Sometimes we must shoot first & ask questions later!

Remember fellow Public Safety Officers, these low lives will kill you in an insant. Stay in top physical shape and be hard. These punks are working out at the gym too, trust me I see them when I train at my local gym and they fear me because I am 5' 7 220 pds with 13 % body fat and they know I am a LEO with an as kicking survival attitude. They see it in my face and thats what they should see in all of us because they fear a LEO in top physical shape. If you think you physical training stopped when you graduated from the academy , you will be dead wrong. You should be training like a seal as long as your in law enforcement because these pyschopaths are out there waiting for an opportunity to get us. Lets get them first and take em down hard with no mercy and never second guess them. They are evil killers in todays society and care for no one but themselves.

Well America, where is the outcry for this. It simply does not exist.
