Vermont Officer Talks Jumper Off Bridge
January 08, 2012
|
Burlington (Vt.) Police Officer Laura Pezzulo convinced a suicidal man perched on the Main Street bridge Saturday night not to jump to his death.
Pezzulo, a trained negotiator and part-time officer, gradually coaxed the man off the edge of the bridge above the Winooski River, reports the Burlington Free-Press.
After the 90-minute negotiation, the man, in his 40s, was taken into custody and hospitalized for intoxication and mental health issues.
