Fresno Officer's Home Firebombed

September 06, 2011  |

A second fire at a Fresno (Calif.) Police officer's home in as many days was intentionally set, authorities say.

Fire crews responded to a blaze at the officer's home on Monday evening, a day after several Molotov cocktails lobbed at the officer's home on Sunday evening caused the home to catch fire.

The initial fire started at the home shortly after 3 a.m., according to Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer.

It's open season now! Wtf? This is terrible. We need to have a quick and HEAVY response to this folks!

Ah2bacop @ 9/6/2011 11:51 PM

Gotta always watch your back, even off duty. Hope our toasty brother and family will be okay. Department should relocate the LEO at no charge after these attacks. It your right bro.

Mark @ 9/7/2011 6:14 AM

Open season for sure...just gotta get my EOTech sign aligned and good to go!

Sergeant Jose E. Barreto @ 9/7/2011 6:44 AM

No question is open season against Law Enforcement Officers all over the country. In south Texas we are getting ready to battle

the area street gang members who are backed by the Mexican drug cartels. Lets keep our eyes "peeled".

From follow-on articles, this looks very personal after three attempts to burn that specific house down. Sounds more like an unhinged ex-whatever than duty related.

Tom @ 9/7/2011 7:50 AM

In today's world, officers would be wise to be prepared for threats off duty as well as on and arm himself/herself appropriately. Having a long gun,
cell phone and flashlight available are good to have at hand. I would hope that Fresno officers go after this threat to their own with gusto.

Stan @ 9/7/2011 8:25 AM

Need to start calling out mutual aide for surveillance work. I am sure other agency are more than willing. Keep you guns on you at all times. Get video surveillance for the house, cars. Start parole and probation searches for the whole city and start squeezing for info.

Janet @ 9/7/2011 8:39 AM

Be safe my brothers & sisters in law enforcement. There are some nuts out there. Protect yourself by any means necessary.

Steve @ 9/7/2011 10:57 AM

I find Janet's comment of "protect yourself by any means necessary" as an interesting comment. When certain members of the population used that slogan in the 60's & 70's it was deemed as being against the establishment (government & law enforcement). I don't know the age of Janet but I find it interesting no one has said anything about that statement.

Dennis @ 9/7/2011 11:29 AM

Stan has it right. It's task force time! No parolee/probationer goes unruffled. Daily gang sweeps. EME's drug trade comes to a screeching halt and its members get rolled back to prison. They will understand that attacks on officers cost way to much.

don barney @ 9/7/2011 12:31 PM

hunt those scumbags down and kill them just like bin laden

john russell @ 9/7/2011 1:49 PM

Yes the Mexican Gangs are getting ruthless ---best to live in squads never know when all out mini heavily armed confrontation will ensue and you have even large groups of Gangs using commando tactics and communications to elimate Officers?

LT:subin @ 9/7/2011 6:16 PM

bather ther mater cray my brothers & sisters in law enforcement but not yours .

ChickCop @ 9/7/2011 10:40 PM

@Dennis: I agree with you 100%!!! That'd definitely get them thinking before they waged war. Turn the heat up on THEM!

steve @ 9/8/2011 11:31 AM

I would be looking at recent cases / arrests she has made - as well as the personal angle - also the assignment she is in ... can never be too safe - go armed at all times !
