Pioneering California Chief Resigns

June 09, 2011  |

Janet Thiessen, the first female police chief in San Joaquin County, has resigned as Tracy's top cop, citing personal reasons.

Chief Thiessen led the Tracy Police Department during one of its most turbulent times of higher crime that included the kidnapping and murder of 8-year-old Sandra Cantu, the investigation into the torture of 16-year-old captive Kyle and the molestation charges against cosmetic surgeon Peter Chi, reports The Record.

Chief Thiessen had led the department for more than two years.
