The Beaumont (Texas) Police Department has begun fund-raising efforts to add a female officer memorial statue outside its headquarters next to a male officer statue.
The statue would honor women in law enforcement killed in the line of duty, including the department's Officer Lisa Beaulieu, who was struck and killed by a drunk driver on April 27, 2007.
"It'd be a good idea to have a female officer since our most recent line of duty death was Lisa Beaulieu so it's something we're excited about," Officer Carol Riley told KYTX CBS.
