Florida Agency Promotes First Female Chief

Jeanette Said-Jinete, a 26-year veteran, has taken over as the new chief of the Medley (Fla.) Police Department, becoming the first female chief in the agency's history and one of 10 now in Florida.
Said-Jinete was confirmed by the City Council on a 3-2 vote Feb. 7, reports the Miami Herald. She will oversee the policing of a city of 100 residents.
