KG Systems’ Gear-Kote is a Moly or Teflon dry film, lubricant-based coat that shields gears and motors from the elements. The product can be applied to any ferrous or nonferrous metal, as well as to some plastics. The thin coating increases heat dissipation by eight to 10 percent and can withstand a temperature range of -350 degrees Fahrenheit to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. While Gear-Kote is designed for use on motorcycle engines, it can also be used to protect firearms.
