NYPD, Clergy Purchase Guns In Brooklyn

The NYPD partnered with Brooklyn clergy to purchase 174 firearms in a six-hour period during its Cash for Guns event. During the Sunday event, the Coalition to Reduce Violent Crime handed out $200 gift cards to purchase the firearms.

State Agencies Select Smith & Wesson M&P Rifles

Smith & Wesson has announced that the Nevada Department of Public Safety (DPS) has chosen to equip its officers with 500 M&P15X tactical rifles. Nevada DPS joins a number of law enforcement agencies that have converted to Smith & Wesson tactical rifles, including the Nebraska State Patrol, which also recently selected duty rifles the M&P Series.

Portland Officials May Restrict TASER Use

Portland police should consider further restraints on when officers can use the TASER stun gun to stop a threat, and make it clear in its written policy that officers should fire a minimum number of stun cycles against a suspect, according to a city audit released Wednesday.
