Voluntary Crash Data Guideline Developers Welcome Comments to Update MMUCC

Law enforcement and others that use the Model Minimum Uniform Crash Criteria (MMUCC) Guideline are invited to attend a workshop that will allow them to help update and revise the MMUCC Guideline. The workshop will take place on Thursday, July 26, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., at the Millennium Hotel in St. Louis. It is being held in conjunction with the 33rd International Forum on Traffic Records.

Taking a no-nonsense stance against Internet predators, sex offenders, and crimes committed against law enforcement officers, Florida Governor Charlie Crist signed five bills into law today. Crist also proposed that the Florida Supreme Court empanel a statewide grand jury to investigate gang activities.

Georgia Deputies Search Jail Cells for Illegal Immigrants

The Cobb County (Ga.) Sheriff's Office has adopted the policy of screening jail inmates to determine if they are illegal immigrants—marking the department as the first in Georgia to embrace the nascent process. Only a handful of law enforcement agencies nationwide currently embrace the practice.

Texas Law enforcement Busts-Up Accident Fraud Ring

Nineteen individuals out of a suspected 22-member accident insurance fraud ring have been arrested by FBI and Dallas/Ft. Worth-based law enforcements officers. The defendants have been charged in a federal indictment with participating in a massive staged accident scheme, according to U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper of the Northern District of Texas.
