White House to Demote ATF Chief So He Can be Kept on the Job

October 09, 2015  |

The White House thinks the acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is doing such a great job, they’re planning to demote him.

The unusual move allows the administration, which has said fighting gun violence is a top priority, to avoid a nasty confirmation hearing for a troubled agency.

The Obama administration has no plans to name a permanent director for the agency, and career agent Thomas Brandon has been serving as the acting chief since April. But by law, he can’t hold that interim title for longer than 120 days, and that clock runs out on Oct. 27.

Brandon confirmed to Politico that he has agreed to stay on while re-assuming his previous title of deputy director – but still serving as the agency’s highest-ranking official.

This doesn't sound fishy, it is fishy. For 7 years, loopholes (opinionated reading of a law), alternate ways (Executive Orders), different titles (czar) and on and on to get what they want. This is no different. This move is just like someone being named as czar for a position because it eliminated a Congressional Hearing and vetting for that person. This move is geared toward complete gun seizure in my opinion. 28 years in law enforcement and what I hate are the jobless, dope using criminals getting them and using them against the lawful citizen. It's the lawful citizens who are going to be denied getting guns and the current administration and supporters do not care. Criminals are going to get them, period. Don't be surprised that this same person is still holding the office after the 27th and is added to loopholes and alternate ways to make their move toward gun seizure more powerful.

Leave it to POTUS, who should be the perfect role model for integrity in our republic, to resort to sleazy loophole tactics to keep his man in position without going through the proper channels.

Our forefathers would rip up the Declaration of Independence and keep under the king's thumb if they knew we would end up like this....
