Sphinx Introduces SDP Compact Pistol

Swiss firearms maker Sphinx Arms has introduced the Sphinx SDP compact pistol in 9mm for law enforcement and military operators, according to the company.

The new Sphinx SDP compact is chambered in 9x19 Parabellum. The all-black compact pistol arrives in Double Action/Single Action with an ambidextrous decocking lever and magazine catch. The pistol's various safeties include a loaded chamber indicator (visual and tactile), internal firing pin safety, drop safety, integrated slide position safety, and hammer safety.

The pistol's upper frame (dust cover) is made from aeronautic-grade, hard-anodized aluminum with Teflon inserts to reduce wear. The integrated recoil buffer provides stabilization of the gun, getting it back on target quickly and improving accuracy.

The full-length guide rails are not inserts; they are machined in to provide additional strength and increase accuracy, according to Sphinx. The integrated Picatinny rail is made from MIL-STD 1913 aluminum with four notches and accomodates a variety of lights and lasers.

The lower part of the frame (grip) is made from a proprietary polymer that will not break down in extreme hot or cold environments. The ergonomic, three-component grip is made from soft and hard material for a comfortable, confident hold. Three interchangeable grip sizes (small, medium, and large) are available.

The Sphinx slide is fully machined from solid steel and features an advanced pyramid design that decreases weight and profile. The slide is coated with TiAIN to resist corrosion and wear. The Sphinx SDP arrives with new exclusive sights from Defiance. The front sight is a fiber/Tritium day-and-night green sight that works in conjunction with a Tritium two-dot red rear sight. The Defiance sight system is instantly combat-ready, requiring no switching on-or-off or any external energy sources. The waterproof, maintenance-free sights provide fast and accurate targeting under all light and weather conditions.

It may be only me, but this looks almost identical to the BB gun in the Brownsville(TX) middle school shooting. This above photo should be shown side by side with the photo of the BB gun from the Brownsville(TX) PD. Those critical of the Officers actions should have to face the situation, choices, actions, responsibility and consequences.

@ gduffey yes it's pretty much just you are you trying to cause trouble or are you trying to be funny you sound like a Public Defender let's leave that up to the court not internet face book twitter

Zachary Minnick @ 3/4/2013 6:55 PM

Looks nothing like BB gun form Brownsville tx it was almost a perfect match to a GLOCK. The officers in tx handled the situation text book and the outcome was sad but justified. We all hope that a day like that never comes but it is something we need to be prepared for.
