LaserLyte Introduces Rear-Sight Laser for Taurus Slim Pistols

January 05, 2011  |

LaserLyte has introduced the Rear Sight Laser (RSL) for Taurus Slim Pistols that allows operators to retain existing grips or internal stock parts, according to the company.

The RL-TS is the first of the LaserLyte Electronic Night Sight series to ship.

The RSL's activation switch is a strategically placed button at the back of the slide that's easily activated by the thumb in a normal shooting position for left- or right-handed shooters. The first press of the activation switch produces the night-sight mode by a small green LED under the white sight notch. The second press produces the laser mode that's programmable to a constant on or pulse beam. The third press turns the laser off. The new circuitry also includes an auto-off feature.

This RSL fits Taurus Slim models PT709, PT740 and PT708 in .380 ACP, .40 S&W and 9mm. The body is constructed from MIM 4650, nickel enriched high carbon steel, the same material used for most heavy-duty gun parts such as iron sights, hammers and levers. The laser body is precision mounted to a proprietary adapter made of 1018, low-carbon mild steel. It is also black chrome, bead blasted for a non-reflective finish. When mounted onto the pistol the RSL will fit all Level I and II holsters.

The RSL is powered by four 377 batteries that provide six hours of normal usage. Normal usage is defined as one minute on and one minute off. This test mimics actual usage where the unit is turned on and off and the battery is given time to automatically regenerate. The RSL is tested and recommended by the National Tactical Officer's Association.
