Florida Agencies Release TASER Cam Videos

The 22-second shaky and grainy clip of the West Melbourne officer using his TASER on naked runner Zak Anthony King on Oct. 12 has captured nearly 100,000 views on YouTube in various postings.

Two central Florida law enforcement agencies have begun releasing the grainy black-and-white videos captured with tiny digitial cameras mounted to the grip of their TASER.

The TASER CAM recorder is mounted to a TASER X26 and captures full audio and video, even in low-light conditions. The camera is integrated into a rechargeable TASER X26 power supply and replaces the standard Digital Power Magazine (DPM), according to the company.

The Winter Park and West Melbourne police departments say the digital cameras could help guard the agency from costly lawsuits for excessive use of force.
