Independence, Mo., Man Arrested for Offering Cop $5 to Kill Woman

An Independence, Mo., man was arrested after reportedly offering an undercover police officer $5 and 90 Oxycontin pills to kill a woman who was living with his former lover.

An Independence, Mo., man was arrested after reportedly offering an undercover police officer $5 and 90 Oxycontin pills to kill a woman who was living with his former lover.

Robert S. Macklin, 35, was charged with first-degree assault or in the alternative conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

Reportedly, the man had approached an acquaintance several times asking him to kill the girlfriend of his former male lover. The acquaintance contacted the authorities and a meet was set up with an undercover officer.

Prosecutors have asked for a $500,000 bond.
